Turning Ibiza into a web3 island ($IBZ) How to build a crypto city fully powered by blockchain technology?

During the last months, the Ibiza Token team had to rethink its strategy due to the market conditions of 2022, we were quiet, but still full on working on the future of the project.
We worked on a new plan, new partnerships, and a new vision, to come back stronger. Ibiza Token will become way more than a marketplace, together with our partners we will make Ibiza a crypto/web3/blockchain island.
Bit by bit we will reveal to you what our plans and partnerships are. Here is a description of all the possibilities. Soon we will deep dive into how we will make this happen. What would be your priority?
As you know, at Ibiza Token we are convinced that web3 integration within our city is not only possible but also imminent and necessary. $IBZ team members’ efforts, combined with the amazing support and initiatives of the whole $IBZ community, are continuously bringing new solutions to make Ibiza a more blockchain-friendly city.
Our aim is to build a fully blockchain-run city where the entire city’s operations are powered by decentralized and secure technology, including government services, financial transactions, supply chain management, energy grid, transportation, and voting systems.
However, this process is a long-term undertaking, we are optimistic about the possibilities on the horizon. At the moment, we are taking some important steps to achieve it, with today’s article we will look at some of the actions we have already initiated, planned, and intend to have underway in the near future, so let’s move on!
1 — Digital identities
Citizens would have a secure digital identity stored on the blockchain, allowing for easy and secure access to government services and private businesses. The citizens would have control over their personal data, being able to use their digital identity to access a wide range of services and benefits.
Ethereum Name Service (ENS) domains are secure domain names for the decentralized world, providing a way for users to map human-readable names to blockchain and non-blockchain resources, like Polygon addresses, IPFS hashes, or website URLs.
How amazing is it to be able to use your own name, company, organization, or just your best nickname to identify yourself among all the Ibiza lovers? We developed an ENS based on our lovely island, allowing the creation of .ibz domain names, for example, satoshinakamoto.ibz or john.ibz. Think about how useful it would also be to improve the traceability of public administration funding allocations.
2 — Decentralized governance
Ibiza city would be run by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) that allows citizens to vote on and make decisions regarding several city policies and budgets in a transparent and secure manner.
We are fully aware that not all decisions can actually involve the community, but we are equally confident that a wide range of public activities affecting the local communities can be directly governed and implemented by citizens, especially in neighborhood programs, which directly impact local residents and which may vary depending on the needs and objectives of each neighborhood.
At Ibiza Token we organize periodic events in order to foster blockchain technology adoption across the island. Ranging from annual events such as Ibiza NXT to training courses for entrepreneurs and artists, as well as meetups connecting citizens, companies, and institutions to help them realize how web3 is more and more valuable, turning the city into a meeting point for crypto enthusiasts that will boost the possibility to create a DAO fully self-governed by the community in the long-term.

3 — Smart contracts
If Ibiza were to fully embrace blockchain technology, the city could use smart contracts to automate and streamline various city services, such as property transactions, bill payments, and public transportation. By leveraging this technology, all transactions could be done in a secure and transparent way, which would increase trust and reduce the risk of fraud.
Through the use of smart contracts, these transactions could be automated and streamlined, reducing the time and resources required to process them. The potential benefits of this technology were clear, and John saw evidence of its use everywhere as he walked through the city.
From automated property transactions to self-executing bill payments, it was clear that Ibiza was at the forefront of using blockchain technology to improve public services. Overall, the use of smart contracts would be a major focus of blockchain technology in Ibiza. If fully implemented, the city could create a more efficient and transparent government that could better serve its citizens. The future looked bright for Ibiza and its ambitious goals for a decentralized future.
4 — Supply chain management
As Ibiza Token, we are proud to be at the forefront of the blockchain revolution in our city. With our expertise in blockchain technology and its applications, we are helping to implement a supply chain management system that ensures transparency, accountability, and sustainability.
By using blockchain to track goods and services, we are able to provide real-time information on their origins, quality, and environmental impact. Ibiza city is a pioneer regarding web3 in Spain, a clear example is the strong support from the public administration to carry out the implementation of both public and private blockchains across a wide range of social areas, a fact that makes us really excited as developers and lovers about this emerging technology.
Smart contracts would automate many government services, reducing bureaucracy and increasing efficiency. For example, property transactions could be executed entirely on the blockchain, with smart contracts automatically handling the transfer of ownership and recording the transaction on the immutable ledger.
